Boston Police report arresting an Orlando man they say reacted to being told he couldn't leave the Taj Hotel with a drink by smashing his glass in the lobby, then going outside and firing a round from the gun he was, of course, packing.
Nobody was hit by the allegedly angry Andrew Flack, 34, apparently unaware that Boston prohibits open containers of alcohol in public and forbids bars from letting customers leave the premises with a drink in hand.
Police say Flack managed to evade arriving officers by getting into a cab, which they say they know because of a 911 call that came in not long after, about a cab on Mass. Ave. near Melnea Cass Boulevard:
As the cab was driving outbound on Massachusetts Avenue, the suspect fired his weapon while inside the vehicle, causing the driver to come to a sudden stop. There were no reported injuries as a result of the second discharge. As officers began to converge on the scene, the suspect exited the cab and fled on foot before being stopped near Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street. Officers later recovered a loaded Jimenez Arms .380 caliber handgun from the rear passenger area of the taxi cab.
Police add:
Officers from District D-4 as well as Tactical Units from SWAT quickly arrived on scene and located the suspect from the initial incident at the Taj and placed him in custody without incident.
Flack was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Boston Municipal Court Judge Tracy-Lee Lyons ordered bail set at $30,000 on those charges and that of unlawful possession of a firearm as a subsequent offense based on a prior firearm conviction in South Carolina, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. If he makes bail, he will also have to wear a GPS device, abide by a curfew and submit to random alcohol testing. His next court date is Feb. 23.
Innocent, etc.

Yeah - that's it. Scared of the cabbie and feeling threatened by the Taj staff. Standing his ground.

Discharging a firearm in an enclosed space like inside a vehicle is really loud. Loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. There's a reason shooting ranges require hearing protection.

I think that the usually overwhelmingly polite staff at the Taj might beg to differ just now.
This is so stupid that it almost seems fictional (but who knows, perhaps this is common in Orlando). It reminds me of the scene in White Men Can't Jump where after Woody and Wesley hustle their first chumps, the big goofy hustlee starts pouting and says something like, "Fuck this. Goin' to my car. Get my gun. Shoot everyone's ass."

Updated original post with arraignment info, which includes the addition of a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, second offense for something in South Carolina.

I know, I know, I'm usually Mr. Know It All on bail, but this question comes to mind-
If he makes bail and agrees to the GPS, curfew, and alcohol testing, will he be allowed to go back to Florida? And who would be in charge of his bail conditions, MA or FL?
Not sure

But I think Massachusetts would oversee his bail conditions, etc. because that's where he was arrested.
