Human traffic cone beats man for accidentally brushing against him at State Street T stop, police say

Suspect wearing orange safety vest

Surveillance photos via TPD.

Transit Police report they are looking for a guy they say pummeled a man for the sort of accidental contact one might expect at a T stop during rush hour.

Police say the guy, dressed in an orange safety vest, repeatedly punched the other man, 64, in the face and body at the State Street T stop after the man "inadvertently brushed against" the guy around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

If the suspect looks familiar, contact detectives at 617-222-1050.

Something tells me you haven't been on the commuter rail recently.

T ridership is plummeting because the service has turned to shit.

I normally take the red line for my 6am starts. Pretty much impossible for me to make it on time. First time in 5 years my commutes have involved mostly driving.

As a person also in their 60s, and one who uses State Street daily, this is cause for concern. Although it hasn't quite reached the Downtown Crossing T stop level of dystopian hell, State Street is getting increasingly more scary.

Tuesday morning at 7:30 is prime-time commuting. There should be at least one or two cops in the station who can respond immediately when one of the surveillance cameras shows a crime in progress.
