Expect even more helicopters and sirens than usual this week

Copter Recon Unit

Mass. EMA and State Police report troopers, local police and the National Guard will be doing training exercises this week in locations that will include Boston Harbor and Gillette Stadium.

The excercise even has a code name - Vigilant Guard - so, as Mass EMA says:

Residents can anticipate seeing an increased presence of military and civilian emergency first responders, military vehicles, use of sirens, and regular flights of military helicopters throughout the Commonwealth.

Last year:
Military copters buzz downtown, scare people half to death.

The year before:
The super-secret helicopters are back, endlessly circling Boston Harbor and making kids think we're having an earthquake.

Blatant commercial shilling:
Universal Hub Copter Recon Unit T-shirt.

Hey Adam,
Why don't you sell "UH Helicopter Recon Unit" stickers to the public? You can give the proceeds to your favorite local charities. Maybe even put a UH merch link on this website and sell all kinds of UH swag. I'm sure you could make a lot of $$$. Just a thought.

Something like like this, maybe? Needs more UHub stuff, though, maybe after I do another redesign and come up with an actual logo.

Why don't you open it up to us.. I am sure there's a few graphic designers on here who would design one for you. Maybe do it as a contest.

If you want things printed (or embroidered) up locally (textiles, that is).

But then we'd have to figure out mailing/distribution. I could see helping with that.

Like the last time the rivers raged and cut off much of the area?

In that case most of the area was only cut off by road for about 24 hours, and after that everything was accessible by foot, although in some cases you'd have to be in pretty good shape to do it. There are some natural features that you don't find in a lot of MA - the A10s that used to be stationed in Chicopee used to do lots of low flights in the Deerfield River gorge, good practice for ground attack aircraft. But they're gone now, no?

I think you are referring to Gillette stadium because it is private property ? I wondered that, but historically this exercise has been done at some other private venues as well as publicly owned ones. Ironically, one of the claims made for this event is the sense or reality for the trainees afforded by neither them nor the general public knowing exactly where or when the exercise will take place, which the announcements seem to obviate (to a degree at least. Not everyone reads u hub.)

I'm referring to the tiny town of Charlemont which is near exactly nothing strategic and no major population centers. I'm really curious what they're doing there.

I'm too lazy to write up a good conspiracy theory, or even to track down the Jade Helm 15 conspiracy theories and rewrite them swapping out Trump for Obama. Suffice to say, they are taking away our liberties.
