Another suburban prostitution arrest

The Globe article with the cops in Woburn was outright creepy. They were "oh, poor babies just wanted some sex and they are embarassed enough blah blah sympathize blay" about the male customers, and nasty bordering on abusive when discussing how much they love to arrest the women and take their money - even though the cases rarely make it through the courts. I wonder how many freebies these guys score when they choose to harass the women but not arrest them??

All of this is, of course, uninterrupted by either reality or a substantial body of international experience. If you want to end prostitution in an area, you arrest the johns and prosecute them in a very public process. Otherwise, letting the guys off with a sympathetic "gee thanks for the info you poor dude" and going after the women does little to end the practice. It might mean plenty of juicy abuse opportunities and continued employment for the police, however, just like our "war on drugs" that doesn't work.

The Netherlands seems to have an approach to this problem that works well -- legalize it but regulate it closely, and confine it to a small zone.

Boston police arrest johns.

Maybe Google is just confused, but I can't find this location on their maps. There's a LaGrange St. in downtown Boston (which contains two strip clubs), and there's a LaGrange St. in West Roxbury, but neither of them are anywhere near Blue Hill Ave.

You're right - it was about a Newton woman arrested in Needham. Fixed.
