Five arrested in Mattapan teen stabbing death

Three teenagers and one adult will be arraigned Monday on charges they surrounded Terrence Jacobs and stabbed him to death on May 22, 2007, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and Boston Police announced.

Another adult will be arraigned on a charge of being an accessory. A sixth adult remains at large on a murder charge.

Evidence suggests that Jacobs was involved in a simmering dispute with a group associated with Havelock and Wilcock streets in Dorchester. That dispute escalated on the evening of May 22, 2007, in a violent confrontation between the victim and a large group of assailants.

Boston Police and emergency medical technicians responded to the area of Havelock Street and Blue Hill Avenue shortly before 8:00 to find Jacobs suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead of his injuries.

Arrested on murder charges: Markeese Mitchell, 16, of Brockton and Admilson Vizcaino, 16, Terrance Pabon, 18 and Paul Goode (a.k.a. Paul Jones), 25, all of Dorchester. Richard Allen, 20, of Dorchester, is charged with being an accessory before the fact to murder. Pedro Ortiz, 28, of Dorchester, is charged with murder but has not been captured.

Boston detectives and a Boston SWAT team made the arrests.

Not that it lessens the severity of the crime, but the Herald reports the victim was not unknown to police:

Before his slaying, Jacobs was arrested for allegedly slashing a 13-year-old across the face in what was a case of mistaken identity. The victim needed 152 stitches to close the wound, according to a cousin.

The Globe gets an interview with DA Conley, says the kid was set up by his friend, doesn't bring up his bad-boy behavior:

"Jacobs came back with Allen thinking he was going to get into a fair, one-on-one fight with a member of the Havelock-Wilcock group," Conley said. "Instead, when he got there, it was nothing of the sort."
