Old rock bands should find better ways to promote themselves

Boston Daily reports on a brief scare this morning involving a poster tube labeled "Anthrax" just sitting in front of Symphony Hall.

Hmm, this sounds vaguely familiar.

Right, because if I'm trying to get someone to succumb to my germ warfare attack, I'm going to put ANTHRAX or RICIN on the outside of my attack packages...

When the first mailings of anthrax were happening, and everyone was in a panic, Scott Ian (of the band, Anthrax) said, "We're thinking of changing our name to 'Basketful Of Puppies'."

I'm right across the street from Symphony Hall and my building was inside the perimeter the police set up. I stepped out for lunch at 11.30am and quickly realized something was up. I walked down the street for a bit until I realized the block was blocked off by police tape and I turned around to go back into my building.

It was then, of course, that a cop yelled at me for crossing the police tape that I at no point crossed. I'm a little puzzled, though. If it was theoretically an anthrax scare, why no hazmat teams? There were a lot of emergency personnel, but it was the bomb squad that were on the scene as specialists. Do they handle bio-weapon scares, too?

Of course, *that's* what you do! If you want to leave a bomb, write ANTHRAX on it and if you want to leave a biohazard, you write BOMB on it!

If you want to leave a movie promotion, just leave batteries and a wire exposed.

... For a short man dressed in a black trench coat and a black fedora, speaking with a Russian accent and carrying one of these. May be accompanied by a tall, slender woman who goes by "Natasha."
