ah, yes, Somerville, where the metered hours vary lot-to-lot
Some lots are metered until 6, and others are until 8. And of course, neither are marked as such- you have to go onto the town's website and consult a PDF to figure it out.
Somerville parking meters
Parking meters in off-street Davis Square parking lots run until 8 pm. Each such meter has a sticker on it saying so.
All other meters in Somerville run until 6 pm.
wrong.
About a year or two ago, there were no stickers on the meters, because both my friend and I closely inspected the meter before leaving the car and we both concluded that, given it was 6:30pm, we were "safe."
We came back to the car a few minutes before 8pm to find Somerville PD going through the lot and ticketing a number of cars.
I live a half block from this parking lot
and I've seen the stickers.
Hardly Somerville specific
Boston has declared certain zones where parking is metered until 8pm and the rest is still 6pm. Even worse is that some areas are 2 hour maximums whereas others are 4 hour maximums. All of which is discernible from the paper inside the meter head but you do have to take the time to read it.
