Billy Beane may not have been right about everything, but I have to agree with his assessment of baseball season existing in three phases:
1) figure out what you need to win in spring
2) get what you need to win in early summer
3) use what you just got to win in late summer and fall.

If the Sox are still playing sub-.400 ball on Memorial Day weekend, then we're probably well and truly screwed for this year. I'm content to reserve judgment until then, even if I'm not enjoying the ride.

Here, go cheer yourselves up by looking at Chien-ming Wang's ERA after last night. That should at least get everyone through the first cup of coffee.
