Registry meltdown strands people looking to renew, change registrations
By adamg on Thu, 06/01/2017 - 11:00pm
Printers stopped working at "multiple" RMV branches today, including the one in Roslindale, where Jeff Durham, who needed to swap plates on a car, waited from 3:20 p.m. until he and other frustrated motorists were ushered out at 5:10 p.m.
Very unfortunate being asked to leave without service. @MassGovernor shame on you!
The Registry reports the snafu has been fixed.

Sh-t happens
Shaming the Governor over technological snafus at the RMV is a bit over the top. Does your office run absolutely perfect every single day?
When the Governor touts improvements to customer service
at the RMV, and when the RMV's response to customers about a computer failure across multiple branches that was likely preventable is "Oh, wait here - we'll have it fixed in a few minutes (sound familiar - think the MBTA)", only to have those same customers then wait for two hours before being kicked out, it is not unreasonable to call the Governor out on the failure of the system.
Maybe they could train employees better?
So that they understand what "honors the laws of other states" means rather than telling people that they have to open a probate case for a vehicle that they own in a state where the deceased never lived?
So that they can troubleshoot and fix printer systems?
So that they recognize that a letter from a state agency fits the description of "a letter from a state agency" that is required for a teen (who already has a state-issued ID and passport) to establish an address?
RMV New Software in 2013
Maybe needs a little debugging
How about a little training
How about a little training and work-around planning, like print to PDF and send it via email to the customer if they have an email etc..That should cover 80% if the customers at least.
