Two-alarm fire strikes house on Ashmont Street in Dorchester

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded at 2:18 a.m. to 550 Ashmont St., near Train Street, for a fire that started on the first floor and extended to the second.

The department reports the house's one resident was evacuated safely. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

The department estimated damage at $400,000.
