The Dorchester Reporter informs us that the detail cop outside the mayor's house on Tuttle Street in Dorchester noticed a suspicious guy skulking around down the street the other morning - turned out he had what police say were stolen goods.

And, yes, not long after the detail was lifted from Chesterfield Road in Readville, Angela Menino's rental vehicle was stolen from outside her and Tom's home.

The homicide unit and the arson squad are investigating what exactly killed a person whose body was found inside a burning car shortly before 4 a.m. at Davitt Street and Savin Hill Avenue, according to Stanley Staco and Boston EMS Incidents.

Ed. note: I've closed the comments on this post. A lot of things were said about the dead man that may or may not be true, but which probably aren't appropriate to post about somebody who seems to have died in a tragic accident, rather than some criminal activity.

Police say it wasn't the fact that a doorman at Cafe 1221 on Dorchester Avenue had an apparently drunken, angry patron restrained on the sidewalk that bothered them. It was, they say, the blood pouring out of several gashes on his face and head, which suggested to them that more than simple restraint had been applied to the man on the night of Nov. 24.

The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday what action, if any, to take over the incident, which restaurant managers say started when a regular customer, who had been in the restaurant for 90 minutes to 2 hours, got up to go outside for a smoke break.

For some reason, the Daily Mail posts photos of what it says is a haunted old Masonic hall on Columbia Road.

Sinister images of the Massachusetts building show a lone chair in an abandoned hallway where the owner of the site has said he has seen a 'female form' appear at sunset.

Tina Chery of Louis D. Brown Peace Institute: Parents have to do their part.

City officials today announced a gun buyback plan that will trade a $200 Visa gift card for every gun turned into Boston police stations as part of an effort to curb youth violence this summer.

At a press conference at Dr. Loesch Family Park (formerly Wainwright Park), Mayor Walsh, Police Commissioner William Evans, local clergy and parents of murder victims said that while the effort by itself is not enough to eliminate violence, it's a good first step.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court today upheld Trevon Mason's conviction for resisting arrest in an armed-holdup investigation in 2008 - roughly four months before he was arrested for fatally shooting a man in the lobby of a Stanwood Street apartment building and injuring the woman whom the victim was shielding with his body.

Mason had originally been arrested on a variety of charges for a September, 2008 incident in which a pizza-delivery man was held up, allegedly at gunpoint.
