Boston Police are looking for a heavyset white guy in his 50s with white hair, a white beard and a red T-shirt for a holdup at the Mass. Ave. Market, 962 Mass. Ave. this afternoon. He may have made good his escape in a cab spotted heading toward Melnea Cass Blvd.

Pheasant to look at

The Animal Rescue League of Boston reports it found a Chinese Golden Pheasant wandering around Braintree this afternoon. Since the bird's not native to these parts, league workers wonder who lost a pet. The ARL also reports finding a mystery snake in Everett today (Ed. note: Yeah, we thought Penelope, too, but the Red Line doesn't go anywhere near Everett).

Murdered BU grad student was from India

RaoBU Today has identified the student found murdered early Thursday as Kanagala Seshadri Rao, a Graduate School of Management student.

Rao came to Boston in September to study for a master's in mathematical finance, according to his LinkedIn page.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area following his death, for which no arrests have yet been made.

The Hindustan Times talked to his father, who said he had no known enemies.

Condemning the incident, Odisha chief minister said: "I am deeply shocked by the brutal and savage killing of the young man studying in Boston. This is absolutely barbaric and horrible."
