As a long-time C's fan, and used to rooting AGAINST Shaq, I had real trepidation when we signed him. I didn't think I could really get to love this guy. However, I've got to say that I'm getting more of a kick out of him lately than any other athlete in Boston, and he's quickly becoming a fave.

(Of course, if he stinks up the joint playing, that will change. I don't expect that to happen, though. Pre-season he's looked quite good, and willing to adapt to his new teammates totally. Yay!)

When he played for the Lakers and I had to hear him run his stupid mouth about whatever/whenever, I just wanted the guy to explode and take Kobe out with him.

I think he's mellowed a bit though. It seems like his show "Shaq VS." has taught him to just be entertaining...and not just obnoxious. I think the end result is he's just fun to listen ramble instead of annoying.

The one thing I still find annoying is how he'll often throw something out there that he definitely meant...and then when he's proven wrong or stupid, he walks it back immediately with a "you took me seriously?" or "that was just a joke" like we're always supposed to think he's being serious...except when he isn't...which is always. Then he flashes his goofball smile.

But stuff like this and some of the other self- and Celtic-promotion he's been doing since arriving has been pure jovial, sometimes juvenile, but always fun.
