Stick with the Sam Adams: the Budweiser truck took Storrow

Also known as: "Please remind out-of-town delivery truck drivers of how to get home".
A Budweiser tractor-trailer almost did the deed, driving outbound on Storrow this morning at 8AM, luckily stopping about 4 feet before the footbridge between Fairfield and Gloucester, and backing up all of the outbound traffic quite handily. From that location, I can only imagine the driver had just made a dropoff for the 4th festivities at the Esplanade, and decided to try following his own nose to get out of there instead of asking for directions.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly how he got to that stretch of Storrow, since I think the Dartmouth/Clarendon footbridge is the same height as the Fairfield/Gloucester one!
Sorry, didn't have time to take a picture as I was speeding into the Hub on the inbound side this morning - lovely summer Fridays with low traffic.

Stupid Question?
Have there ever been serious discussions about raising the height of the footbridge? After all of these years, it just now occurred to me, but perhaps others are brighter than I am and have considered it?

All this construction talk assumes having trucks on Storrow would somehow be a good thing. I'm perfectly willing to trade the occasional truck getting decapitated (and resulting traffic snarls) with not having to deal with 18 wheelers on this road day in and day out.

...yet I agree, it should be truck-Free.
Narrow lanes, tight turns, left exits and entrances
Even without the low bridges, Storrow Drive is no place for huge trucks to be. Let them use the Pike, that's what it's designed for.
One big problem
The foot bridge is also a wheel bridge - it has to be accessible. Every foot in vertical height means twelve additional feet of ramp run. The space on the Back Bay side of Storrow is probably too tight for that.
the 12x1 rise is why
the foot bridge at Leverett circle hasn't been rebuilt. The ramp would be
massive and you have a lot more space there then on Back St.
You tear them down and they don't go backup.

Honestly, my time in retail, through dealing with truck drivers while taking in deliveries, Boston and the immediately surrounding towns, are almost impossible to navigate with an 18 wheeler. If you thought "You can't get there from here" was for cars only, you should talk to a Trucker.

Why would Budweiser be delivered from out of town?
There is a Bud facility in Meffuh on Riverside Ave. near the Meadow Glenn Mall. This facility serves the entire Boston area. If these drivers aren't familiar with the major local roads, heaven help them!

Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the Esplanade, and police may search bags to ensure you don't bring any. So I don't think any beer is going to be sold there this weekend.
