Three charged with arranging crack sale at Occupy Boston

The actual exchange of drugs took place in the South End last night, after one of the three asked two undercover cops if they needed any crack, and when they said yes, he brought over a pal and they went for a walk, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Atu Austin, Lamont Daughtery and Thomas McLaughlin were arraigned today, the DA's office says.

The two suspects said they would have to walk to get the drugs because no one had any left in the encampment. The foursome began walking up Summer Street, eventually making their way to East Berkeley Street. At that point, the officers gave $80 to McLaughlin and waited at a nearby bus stop with Daughtery. Additional officers watched as McLaughlin met up with Austin and the two engaged in a transaction at 433 Harrison Ave. McLaughlin allegedly returned to the bus stop, where it was established that he and Daughtery would each get one of the bags for their troubles. The drugs were distributed among the group near the intersection of Washington and Herald streets. All three suspects were eventually arrested, with police recovering only $60 in buy money from Austin and the other $20 in McLaughlin's pocket.

Innocent, etc.
