State, local police hunt bank robber with gun in Davis Square

Wanted for Somerville bank robbery, shooting at officer

State Police and police in Somerville and surrounding communities are looking for a man they say robbed a bank in Davis Square this morning, then fired a shot at a responding officer, but missed.

The man, described as 5'10" and Hispanic with a medium to heavy build, robbed the Middlesex Federal Savings Bank branch at 1 College Ave. before running away.

State Police have urged residents to stay inside.

They caught the guy a while ago, but the news choppers are still up there, like the worst mosquitos. Any bets on whether they'll still be there in 1 hour? 2?

I can see 5 from where I'm sitting.

Never mind, I forgot that "police have someone in custody" usually just means "police have grabbed at least one person of the same skin color and gender as the suspect" until further notice. -.-

I wonder how many bank robbers use the MBTA as an escape route. I wonder how many passengers would see something or say something if the guy sitting beside you was covered in red dye after the dye pack explodes.

I tuned into the police scanner a little while ago. It sounded like the guy was apprehended, and the gun and money were recovered.

I guess there is still some question as to whether anyone else was involved, though.

I got off the train right after this all happened. Cops were blocking all the traffic but not stopping peds. I head back to the train 20 minutes ago and the whole station is closed, and there's a shitload of media around. Cop let's a girl go into deliver food but no one else. So Davis was safe enough for a delivery person?

Just seems like the guy would be long gone if he got on the T, and it's all just another excuse to perform security theater.

What kind of gun is that? Was he fresh off a stagecoach robbery?

Shouldn't he be robbing a train instead of a bank?

did the police just listen for the sound of his spurs jingling?

I heard the police pursued him afterward following his white bronco....literally, he was riding a white bronco.

That gun was made by Smith.....Wesson hadn't even joined the company yet.

i'll see myself out.

There is A suspect in custody. Just not the actual guy. He’s still on the loose.

Apparently the person taken into custody is not the bank robber, according to Cambridge Police.
