Guy gets taken in by old TV-on-the-loading-dock scam - or, rather, the old 13-TVs-on-the-loading-dock scam (and he drove all the way up from Connecticut with $9,800).

Can you say chump? This is why you don't bring cash to transactions like that, he could have easily paid by check and called in a hold on his bank account before the check was cashed and alerted the authorities.

...or you just don't listen to the guy who says his brother's pal's cousin works at the loading dock back there which apparently is overflowing with so many flatscreen plasma TVs that they're building forts out of the boxes.

We'll to be fair I've bought things like laptops off craigslist before, and they usually want to meet in neutral locations like parking lots.
I tell them nope, and I leave money in the car and bring in a check. If the goods are good, I'll go back and pay in cash if they have a problem with the check, but only after making sure everythings in working order and i'm not being hustled.
Who's the bigger chump, though?
The chump who falls for this scam, or the chump who perpetrates the scam and lets the aforementioned chump take his picture?

I wonder if all those people who are moving to the mall (as seen in the Globe not long ago) are comfortable with the idea of moving into a high-crime neighborhood such as the Natick Collection parking lot.
