Beacon Street shut when cops discover rental truck with no plates just sitting on bridge over turnpike
By adamg on Thu, 07/10/2014 - 3:11pm
Beacon Street between Audubon Circle and Kenmore Square was shut to both vehicles and pedestrians for about 30 minutes this afternoon so police could examine a Budget truck that was parked on the bridge over the turnpike without any license plates. After examining the truck and determining there was nothing threatening, police re-opened the street around 3 p.m.

At least they didn't shut
down the Turnpike under the bridge as well.
Hopefully
They towed the truck and tracked down the owner?
Why didn't they just tow it away?
Isn't that standard practice for any car parked without plates?
Because if there were something inside it
The last thing they'd want to do is tow it away until said something is defused/all blowed up.
Rental truck vs. fleet truck
Rental truck vs. fleet truck , see Oklahoma City bombings.....
more prosaically
someone could have been using it as a rolling meth lab. Those are pretty hazardous, and you don't want to take the risk of spilling toxic chemicals when you tow or move it.
