Two men who checked into the W Hotel Thursday night left bags full of crystal meth behind after one was transported to a nearby hospital for a suspected overdose and then after he returned both were kicked out, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Both Jeffrey Bertrand, 30, of Everett, the alleged overdoser, and Dylan Donahue, 23, of Granby, were arraigned yesterday in Boston Municipal Court on charges of trafficking in more than 100 grams of methamphetamine. Both had bail set at $2,000 - the DA had asked for $150,000 in bail. Donahue was also charged with possession of a Class B drug.
According to prosecutors, Betrand OD'ed around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. The hotel then asked Donahue to pack up their stuff and leave.
Donahue gathered their belongings and left the premises. However, staff at the hotel later discovered a bag inside a desk in the room that held a container of crystal meth. Police responded to the hotel and approached Bertrand and Donahue, who had returned to the location.
After speaking with the men, officers entered the room and observed the container found by hotel staff. Its contents were weighed and determined to be 142 grams of suspected crystal meth. Also inside the hotel room were a small briefcase-style safe, a silver bowl with crystal meth residue, multiple Ziplock baggies, hypodermic needles, and other indicia of drug distribution and use.
