New Balance has filed formal plans for a 175-room hotel at its Boston Landing development along Guest Street in Brighton.
The company had earlier said it would include a hotel in the complex; a "notice of project change" filed with the BPDA last week provides details on just what the hotel will look like.
The company is proposing no on-site parking for the hotel, but says guests will be able to park in an existing Boston Landing garage nearby. The hotel would be the closest Boston Landing building to the current Stop & Shop lot - whose owners are planning their own massive redevelopment.
Conceptually, the Hotel Project has been designed to reflect both its context and its intended use. The building’s facades are organized in a rhythmic pattern derived from the neighboring buildings but expressed in a contemporary manner to emphasize the movement and activation that the Boston Landing development has created. Within this cadence, the design is intended to suggest a more contemporary look. By both “fitting in and standing out”, the Hotel Project will be another step in defining the Guest Street corridor.
