Is there an actual ramp? How did they do it?
There’s a fork in the road
and the ramp is on the right. This video by Freeway Jim (Fred?) shows it at about 02:45

Yes. It’s a tight ramp too.
Not something you are used to, no doubt.
When you first exit the
When you first exit the tunnel, you hit daylight for a second before a split into two different tunnels, both have you end up in the O'Neill -- the left one is labeled for 93N and puts you in the left travel lane, the right tunnel is labeled for Storrow and puts you onto the exit for Storrow within the O'Neill.
It's a narrow tunnel compared to others in the area, so it's not hard to imagine excess speed or lack of attention and not anticipating the curve leading to a crash there, especially after what was presumably a sparsely trafficked long straight shot down the Sumner.
The Sumner->Storrow ramp
The Sumner->Storrow ramp really isn't that bad. https://goo.gl/maps/dZQAxwQYLTtBPkGVA It has a shoulder, unlike the Sumner itself.
It's a crazy twisting turning exit, part tunnel part open
which is why the speed limit is 35, which means the deceased was driving like a bat out of hell through the tunnel at 3:00 AM, which many of us have done, but when you near the exit you slow down or else. The tire marks and scrapes on the walls are evidence of those who have ignored the signs.
speed limits
The tunnel speed limits are poorly posted and I wonder if that’s a factor in accidents like these. Younger and/or inexperienced drivers rely on app speed limits that can sometimes be wrong or there’s a lag in updating. I’ve noticed this when taking a highway exit and the ramp speed isn’t updated in time and still shows highway speed.
Now I know why all these
Now I know why all these drivers look at their phones. They are checking speed limits!
