Two make off with loaded gun magazines and bulletproof vest from a Cambridge cop's car, police say
Cambridge Police report they are looking for two people for a string of burglaries early this morning in North Cambridge - including two loaded magazines from a Cambridge officer's locked personal car.
Police say officers responded around 5:30 this morning to a burglar alarm at a service station on Massachusetts Avenue in North Cambridge.
During the initial investigation, the officers learned the commercial establishment -- a gas and service station -- had been broken into. Shortly after, the officers located an abandoned gray 2007 Mercedes SUV nearby that was stolen from the business. During the investigation, the officers learned an off-duty Cambridge Police officer’s locked personal car, parked in the North Cambridge area, had also been broken into. A Cambridge Police identification card, a ballistic vest, and two loaded firearm magazines (which hold ammunition for a firearm) were among the items stolen from the officer’s car. No firearms were stolen. Officers also learned a black Ford Taurus was stolen from the commercial establishment, which has not been located at the time of this announcement.
Police described the suspects as a Black man and a White woman with blonde hair. Anyone with information can call Cambridge Police at 617-349-3300 or the CPD anonymous tip line at 617-349-3121.

Wow. Talk about brazen!!
Wow. Talk about brazen!!
What the hell
What the hell is a police officer doing leaving those things in his car overnight! It's inexcusable for anyone to leave loaded magazines and police ID unattended but a cop, of all people, should know that cars get broken into.
Exactly...
As a former military guy, we locked down everything and recorded it, this is absurd
"Good" guys with guns don't

Seriously, I feel like someone just earned a couple months of investigating theft of toilet paper from the public toilet in Central Square.

People...
Are lazy.
They avoid annoying and seemingly wasteful effort. They work hard at rationalizing those choices, though.
Robocops will be SO MUCH better.

A car within a car?
Stupid writing fixed
I need a copy desk.
In the locked trunk or no?
Just to be pedantic and really, really clear:
Was the ammo stored in a locked trunk of the car, or elsewhere in the car where breaking a window allowed access and/or where the door doesn't automatically lock?
