Man was walking around Egleston Square with a loaded gun and heroin, police say

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of a man with a gun on Washington Street in Egleston Square yesterday found the man inside a barbershop there, along with a gun loaded with five bullets, and five more bullets and one large bag and a couple dozen smaller bags all filled with "a brown powder believed to be heroin."

Police say somebody called 911 around 1:15 p.m. to report a man with a gun on Washington Street near School Street, wearing a red hoodie, gray pants and a black mask. Police say the officers found a man matching that description inside a barbershop at 3137C Washington Street.

Further investigation into the suspects jacket revealed a firearm. The firearm, a Smith and Wesson Revolver, was loaded with 5 rounds of ammunition.

Ferrer was placed under arrest and transported to District E-13 for booking. During the booking process officers discovered 1 large plastic bag containing a brown powder believed to be Heroin, 24 small plastic bags containing a brown powder also believed to be Heroin and 5 ballistic rounds in the suspects property.

Jose Augostin Ferrer, 52, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute and trafficking a Class A drug, police say.
