As of 11:45 a.m., the state was reporting 358,952 powerless homes and businesses - some still out from the first nor'easter. In Boston, there were 664 customers without power.

Eversource is estimating 10 a.m. for restoration of power to the 2,600 or so homes and businesses that lost power in Brighton this morning.

State energy regulators have given Eversource the go ahead to build a large new substation near Chelsea Creek, off East Eagle Street, and connect it to new transmission lines across the creek in Chelsea and Everett. Read more.

State energy regulators have signed off on plans by Eversource to expand its K Street substation in South Boston. The plans include connecting two parts of the Harborwalk path that now end near where the new equipment will go. Read more.

Dump truck ensnared in power and cable lines in Hyde Park

The company currently reports 630 customers without power in Boston and 268 in Somerville, but says the majority should have power back by the stroke of 12.

CommonWealth reports the state Department of Public Utilities is going to investigate an allegation that Eversource helped raise electricity rates by futzing around with the supply of natural gas used to generate electricity around here.

The Cambridge Fire Department reports a manhole at Cambridge and Tremont streets exploded around 8:50 p.m.

Inman Square went dark.

Binney Street blocked off

Danielle Fox watched the electricity go out in the area of Sullivan and Franklin streets in Charlestown this evening. She reports that Eversource estimates 10:15 p.m. for restoration.

Nichole Davis reports no power in Brighton Center; power's actuallly out from the Brookline line on Washington Street to Oak Square, possibly due to a fire in the hole at 1709 Comm. Ave.

Eversource's outage map was showing 4,500 Boston customers without power as of 5:55 p.m. Eversource says it hopes to have power back on by 7:15 p.m.

The East Boston Times-Free Press reports on a two-year effort by Channel Fish to stop Eversource from building a substation on East Eagle Street. Its latest weapon: A video that forecasts widespread destruction if the facility is built and then explodes. The state Energy Facilities Siting Board is currently considering whether to approve the substation and a transmission line to connect it to an existing substation in Chelsea.
