I saw the ambulance and paramedics waiting at the pier last night as I was walking home to Southie from a concert at the BofA pavilion. Thought something might have happened on one of the harbor islands. Never would have guessed it was a man overboard. We saw at least one fire boat with flashing lights and thought it was strange that it was going in the opposite direction of where the ambulance was waiting. We waited on the summer street bridge for a while to see if the the boats were coming in but my husband said that they were probably just waiting for a body at that point. Awful! I hope they find the man.

Tragic - country music north of the Mason-Dixon line, east of the Mississippi. No good comes of it. :-)

Condolences to the man's family and friends.

Drinking and water are terribly dangerous (and terribly fun). Don;t overdo it around water people!

I thought they had put a stop to a lot of these concert "booze cruises" back in the 90s because too many people were drinking and falling off.

If they guy survived the drop, the water is relatively warm and he may have been able to make it to shore somehow ... and may be too embarrassed to show his face.

According to the Globe, he climbed over a substantial railing and jumped despite two passengers and a crew member trying to stop him.
