By adamg on Tue, 11/17/2015 - 12:13pm
NorthEndWaterfront.com reports on the picketing outside City Hall yesterday aver a proposed 44-story tower that would replace the Garden garage.
There's a public meeting on the proposal at 6:30 p.m. today at the third-floor Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary auditorium, 243 Charles St.

West End
They should join their neighbors in Beacon Hill and take a long walk off a short curb cut.

Seriously
This is one of the few places in the entire state where it should be totally uncontroversial to build tall.
Sorry you guys are going to lose (part of) your view.
There is money to be made
By extorting developers into building pet projects for the complainers. Menino turned it into an art form.
We've Got Our High Rise! We've Got Our High Rise!
You can't have yours. Bless this little suburban apartment community.
"If you lived here, you would be obfuscating needed practical urban development now."
Mass Eye and Ear
They'll see nothing, hear nothing, but say plenty.
NIMBY Alert
I especially enjoyed the histrionic comparisons in the IAG letters to mid-century Urban Renewal razings. Let's maintain perspective: this is a single (bland) concrete parking garage being torn down that will make room for needed housing stock.
the only West End residents live in that Lowell Street tenement
the rest of them had their houses torn down long ago and moved elsewhere.
But the little house across
But the little house across the street remains.........
Hilarious
I love the sign that says "MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING →NOW←". Okay, we'll make the new tower twice as large so that the developer can afford to sell the apartments at a lower price point. I'm sure these folks would love that.
I wonder how many people HONKed AGAINST THE BRA.
Perhaps if the sign read
Honk If You Love Cookies instead.
NIMBYs don't seem to
NIMBYs don't seem to understand basic economics. Did they ever think about as to WHY housing is so expensive in Boston? Here's a hint: it's not because we're building too much of it.
Can we get on their news
Can we get on their news letter or something so we can show up and protest the West End in general and how it should be just razed to the ground and the original street grid put back ?
West End Residents
All five of them.
