At the corner of Stuart Street and Tremont Street, in 2013 there was a Panera's Bread which could still be there today, 2016.

In the 1970s to the early 1980s, there was a barroom/strip joint which was part of the Combat Zone at Stuart and Tremont Street. It was a unique location in the Combat Zone as it was some 2 blocks away from the main area of what was called the Combat Zone. I am trying to recall the name of this the Combat Zone barroom.
Long time memory versus short time memory is funny as you get older. I can not recall all of what i did yesterday, but i have a video memory of what that Stuart/Tremont Street barroom in the 70s looked like inside like it was this morning i went in. There was also a barroom on the second floor but they did not advertise on the outside. But i can not recall the name of the business.

Gushing water

Gushing water. Photo by BFD.

A burst water main at Stuart and Warrenton streets caused traffic issues and forced the shutdown of the Charles Playhouse because the low-pressure main fed its toilets and sprinklers, the Boston Fire Department reports:

Theater has no working fire sprinkler system and toilets not functioning because of no water pressure. Shows cancelled.

The eight-inch main burst around 11:30 a.m.

Downed Rte. 9 sign

We can't be the only people who used to think Rte. 9 ended (or began) somewhere in the area of the Riverway overpass just past Brookline Village. Now, thanks to the industrious beavers at MassDOT, we know it continues down Huntington Avenue to at least Mission Hill (remember last year when a contractor blocked the sidewalk on Tremont Street by putting up Rte. 9 signs?). And now, thanks to a concerned citizen, we know Rte. 9 extends even further into Boston, onto at least Stuart Street (and from there, hmm, maybe it goes through one of the tunnels into East Boston and then all the way up to Canada!):

One of the new state road signs has been knocked down by a car and is near Eastern Bank at Dartmouth and Stuart (on elevated sidewalk). By the way, why are all these signs being installed?

UPDATE: The Herald identifies the officer in question as Daniel Keeler, a former homicide detective with an interesting past.

Brecht Palombo attended the auction for 441 Stuart St., an office building that sold for $37.5 million in 2004 with the expectation it would be converted into condos. It wasn't, and when the auctioneer started the bidding at $30 million, nobody offered until the price went way, way down.

A man charged with raping two women in the garage of the Radisson Hotel on Stuart Street was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail following his arraignment today, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office says.

Jose Rivera is charged with raping one woman on April 19 and another early this morning, the DA's office says, adding the April 19 victim was a worker at the hotel going to her job. Rivera's probation on an unrelated assault conviction in West Roxbury District Court was also revoked.

Innocent, etc.
