Bright and early at 6:28 a.m., the MBTA reported one of its new Springfield specials on the Orange Line refused to budge from Forest Hills. The train has since been shoved out of the way.

Update, 10:50 a.m. Eversource says it's restored almost all the power, except to 10 customers.

Around 9 p.m., the lights began blinking out in Jamaica Plain. As of 9:35, Eversource is reporting 4,438 homes and businesses in Boston without power, most of them in JP, and most of those clustered in the area between Jamaica Pond, the Arboretum and Franklin Park, about as far north as Parley Avenue and Green Street. Rainbow over Uphams Corner

Dark and stormy on the Charles

It was pretty dark and stormy looking over the Charles as our own Ron Newman made his way over the Longfellow around 1:30 p.m.

The day after Mario's held a soft opening at its new Hyde Square location comes news that the developer behind the condos going in where Doyle's used to be has a deal with Stoked Pizza to move into the ground-floor space and second-floor balcony where Forest Hills' Brassica once planned to open. The group working to bring professional women's soccer to Boston yesterday filed detailed plans for its part of the overhaul of the decaying, fire-ravaged White Stadium in Franklin Park, which includes a new soccer pitch, replacement of bleachers with individual seats, a separate dining area including room for food trucks, a year-round restaurant and a beer garden and overhanging shade over the seats designed as an homage to the surrounding greenery. Update, 12:45 p.m.: Outage numbers now around 6,112 in Boston, with numerous outages in Hyde Park and Mattapan.

As of 9:30 a.m., Eversource reported more than 3,400 businesses and homes in Boston have lost power - including 1,600 or so in Roxbury, where falling tree limbs knocked out power at 6:32 a.m. and 1,400 in Jamaica Plain, where the power went off at 8:09 a.m.
