A federal judge today sentenced Herbert Small, 33, to two years in prison and six years of probation following his guilty plea to charges he sold two guns and cocaine to a man working with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Dorchester last year. Read more.

Boston Police report on a series of unrelated arrests Saturday of people wandering around the Caribbean Carnival area with loaded guns, from a 16-year-old and two pals they say had two guns in a backpack - one loaded with 18 bullets - to a man with a gun loaded with seven rounds who was charged with his fourth firearm offense. Boston Police report a man was stabbed outside the Engine 18 fire station at 1879 Dorchester Ave. in Dorchester around 10 p.m. on Friday. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Boston Police report officers who stopped a car at Kingsdale and Bernard streets in Dorchester because of its excessively tinted windows early this morning ended up arresting a 17-year-old passenger for the "Glock 29 with fifteen rounds in the magazine" he had in a fanny pack he was holding. A bouncer at the Dublin Pub, 7 Stoughton St. in Dorchester's Uphams Corner, lost her job after she pulled out some mace she wasn't supposed to have and used it to subdue an irate woman trying to barge back into the joint after being kicked out, bar managers and its attorney, told the Boston Licensing Board at a hearing this week. Boston Police are seeking help to identify the guy they say crept up to a house on Devon Street in Grove Hall and then spent some time "looking into an occupied bathroom window" around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

A Randolph man was ordered held because he couldn't come up with $5,000 bail at his arraignment Monday on charges he had something to do with the shooting and moped robbery of a man on Geneva Avenue at Westville Street shortly before 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The Dorchester Reporter updates us on opposition to a proposed Papa John's francise on Dorchester Avenue in Fields Corner, not because of the quality of the pizza as because it's an out-of-state business rather than something more homegrown - such as Antonio's Hi-Fi Pizza across the street. The proposed franchisee, though, is a Dorchester resident.
