A teen faces attempted-murder and gun charges after he allegedly shot somebody in the lower busway at Ruggles on April 18, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Transit Police have released photos of a guy they say responded to being barred from a bus at the Massachusetts Avenue stop for refusing to put on a mask by kicking the bus door, causing a a spider-web crack that forced the bus out of service. Read more.

Transit Police report a man was shot in the lower busway at the Ruggles MBTA station around 6:15 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, but is expected to survive, police say.

The MBTA announced today it's not going to be running any trains or buses under the partially collapsed Government Center Garage - which sits atop Haymarket station, "until a team of structural engineers, examining and assessing infrastructure above and below the surface, confirms that subway service can safely resume." Stanley Stacos reports somebody was shot on a bus on Morton Street near Lorna Road shortly before 10:30 a.m. Transit Police report the victim was shot in the leg following an argument with the shooter, who fled the scene - after possibly discarding a gun on West Selden Street.
Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui is organizing a working group to see if Cambridge can or should set aside some money to for creating a fare-free bus route or routes. Read more.
BAC Library journeyed over to the T's North Cambridge yard today to take one last look at the trackless trolleys before the T starts ripping out all the wires next month in preparation for the arrival of battery-powered buses (with small diesel engines for heat) - in a couple of years or so (in the interregnum, the T will run diesel buses). T workers even rolled out a venerable old non-wire-powered RTS bus (on the right) for inspection.
Mayor Wu today announced a deal with the MBTA to end fares on the 23, 28 and 29 bus lines for two years, starting March 1. Read more.

The Belmontonian reports the T is pulling its electric-powered trolley buses on the 73 line out of Harvard Square in March, to be replaced at first by diesel buses and then by battery-powered buses that need small diesel engines to supply heat on colder days.
CommonWealth reports the Wu administration is trying to figure out how to deal with a Federal Transit Administration rule that seems to limit transit pilots to six months before they have to be shut down or funded permanently. Two weeks ago, the City Council approved Wu's proposal to spend $8 million to provide free boarding on three bus routes - in a pilot that would run two years.
Transit Police report arresting a man for beating up a woman who looked like she'd just been punched slapped hard in the face at the Andrew T station - and for the 19 outstanding warrants he already had out, including for incidents in which he allegedly attacked a disabled person, a police officer, an EMT and a jail guard, in different parts of Boston.
