The Boston Licensing Board voted yesterday to revoke the food-serving license for New York Fried Chicken, 1251 River St., because listed owner Riaz Ali Shah hid the real owner of the take-out place and because he's agreed to plead guilty to federal tax and immigration fraud charges. Read more.

Wanted man

Boston Police report arresting a "violent, dangerous" man for an incident last Thursday in which he and accomplices allegedly broke into a home on Enneking Parkway, forced the occupant into a car to withdraw money from her ATM and then dumped her in a cemetery.

The Boston Licensing Board next week considers what to do about New York Fried Chicken, 1269 River St., one of whose co-owners pleaded guilty earlier this year to tax evasion and visa fraud - unlike his co-owners, who had the foresight to flee to Pakistan first. Read more.

WFXT reports police are investigating a home invasion overnight on Enneking Parkway near Gordon Avenue. WBZ reports the robbers dumped the elderly woman at a Mattapan cemetery. She was taken to a local hospital for injuries not considered life threatening.

The Board of Appeal today approved plans to replace a three-family house at 7 Dana Ave. with a townhouse project of 12, two-bedroom units, one set aside as affordable.

The board unanimously approved the proposal, although board Chairwoman Christine Araujo asked for some plantings to screen what she said would otherwise look like "a very suburban, motel-looking structure."

Hyde Park has a new community group! Keep Hyde Park Beautiful is dedicated to improving the image of Hyde Park. We are affiliated with the national group, Keep America Beautiful that has been around for several decades. There is a community clean up planned for Saturday, June 24 from 10am-1pm along Truman Parkway.

MassDOT reports that ridership on the only only-in-Boston commuter rail line increased 25% during the first of two fare-free weeks in May - and 44% the second week - but then dropped back down to normal light levels when the fares came back.

The Bulletin reports the river has incredibly high levels of both the sort of bacteria usually found with human waste and toxic PCBs - which is why the owner of the shopping plaza on the Hyde Park/Mattapan line hasn't put in the riverside restaurant he once wanted to.

Bean & Cream, 680 Truman Parkway, which opened six years ago, closes its doors for the last time today.

The family that owns the shop, along with Cappy's Pizzeria and, in fact, the block of stores both are in, is advertising the space as available for use as a cafe. Cappy's, long a Fairmount Hill institution, will remain open.

The Bulletin reports a team of Boston College students studying the long shuttered Everett Square Theatre on Fairmount Avenue estimate restoring its faded glory would cost $10.2 million - but that the place could be eligible for $4 million in tax credits if its owner can obtain historic designation.

A man robbed the Metro PCS store at 1266 River St in Cleary Square around 6:20 p.m. by pointing a taser at a clerk, then jumped on a scooter and rode away - only to be captured not long after by police officers at Cummins Highway and Rosewood Street in Mattapan after a slow-speed chase.

The Boston Department of Neighborhood Development holds a meeting this Monday on a proposal to lease about three-quarters of an acre it owns in Readville to two Roslindale residents who grow "microgreens" - vegetables that are harvested as soon as they put out their first leaves. Read more.
