Commuters not only ones feeling trapped by the T these days

Curt Nickisch phototographed this poor hawk unable to figure a way out of Alewife station around 7:30 p.m. The Animal Rescue League reports a happy ending to this tale:
Got word that the hawk was caught and moved outside.

Clearly he should just fly
Clearly he should just fly through that open door right next to him.
He's not Bugs Bunny or the Roadrunner, though
That open door is part of a mural.
Whoooooooosssshhhhhhh!

The door into summer
My cat was always looking for that ...
Although Logan Airport worked just fine for me.
The MBTA apologized to the bird for "moderate delays"

comrade hawk
Moscow has its stray dogs riding the metro; perhaps we could have confused hawks riding on the T.
That takes care of the rat
That takes care of the rat problem!
Me too!
I had a hard time finding my way out of the station the first couple of times I rode to Alewife. At least, I had trouble figuring out how to get out on the side of the station I wanted.
Hawk vs T-Rats at Alewife
The poor hawk would be dead within minutes after feasting on an Alewife rat who lives in a station built on a chemical waste dump. The rats at Alewife are huge and resemble creatures from the Isle of Doctor Moreau.
The hawk was later heard to say...
"I was just trying to get warm!"
