K.A. ran across an air conditioner being used as a space saver on Beacon Hill this morning, wonders whether the owner just gave up on the idea of it ever getting warm enough again to need it for its original purpose.
Katia, meanwhile, discovered a microwave slowly emerging on the sidewalk as a Beacon Hill glacier retreats:

I'm surprised we don't see
I'm surprised we don't see more people using old TVs, monitors, air-conditioners, etc, as space savers . If the city picks up the space savers, you don't have to arrange a special pick-up like you normally would for these items. If they don't remove it because it is a special pick-up item, you get to keep your space saver.
Saw one in Charlestown
Figured that it was an attempt to save the surcharge.
There is no surcharge
You have to call for a special pickup but there isn't a charge for it, at least in Boston.
The Senate made this clear
Global warming is BS. Look out your window this morning. It will never be warm again. Rip those ACs out, restock the wood pile.
The EPA recently banned wood
The EPA recently banned wood stoves without catalytic converters. So unless you have a "pre-ban" wood stove good luck with that wood pile.
