Roslindale Chinese restaurant closes, but only so it can get its new dining room ready

Seven Star Street Bistro on Belgrade Avenue is urging fans to hold tight as it gears up for a re-opening with an actual dining room.

On its Facebook page, Seven Star reports it finally got all the paperwork it needed to open up the dining room, serve beer and wine and get a new online ordering system up. The dining room hosted Councilor Michelle Wu's re-election party last week, then the restaurant closed.

They add:

We are also very excited to have our first art installment form a rozzie local and longtime patron James Edwards his paintings have brightened our dining room and created an enchanting space for your enjoyment. We are eager to feature other local artists for future installments with a focus on modern, street art, and graffiti art to adorn our urban street bistro.

when we tried to order from there on Thursday. :(

Fortunately, Shanti was more than willing to serve as a substitute -- love that salmon tika-masala!

I'm really excited for them and I hope it goes super well.

I am disappointed that they have had it so rough with the city inspectional services.

There are so many terrible Chinese take out restaurants in Boston's neighborhoods (far too many to name names) Seven Star should have a line out the door every night (when they open).

I miss Cheerful Kitchens, the Taiwanese predecessor and one of a very long line of Chinese restaurants that has occupied that space. But congratulations to Seven Star, who seem to be doing it the best of anyone with a big upgrade from traditional Chinese menus.

is opening day or rather evening for the dining room, according to their FB page. There are also photos of the new menu there. Check website later for the take-out menu. My favorite, pork with Thai basil, is still on the menu. And of course the delicious hot and sour soup.

That's just one of the many amazing dishes they will continue to have. I'm very excited for the re-opening, and also like the beer list. It's short, but just about everything on it is interesting and good.
