Another overnight crash, this one fatal

This is one of those addresses that keeps you guessing what neighborhood it's in. Roslindale is on one side, Dorchester (or Dorchester Center) on another. Mattapan and even Jamaica Plain are also within shouting distance.

The tag on your story indicates "Mattapan" but I don't believe American Legion Highway has any portion in that neighborhood. The final arbiter of zip codes seems to be the US Postal Service, and since they put the Boston Police VFW Post - on the south side of American Legion Highway at 500 Morton Street - in Dorchester, I guess the entire intersection is in that neighborhood.

One reason this is worth paying attention to is car insurance. A.L. Highway is such a crash-prone road, it probably contributes more to each neighborhood's collision insurance rates than most of the other streets combined.
