i remember back in 2001 alex beam and james lileks (of lileks.com, of minneapolis, a columnist who early on adopted a web presence and blog long before any other columnists really did) went at it about blogging. alex beam hated blogging like he hates twitter today. lileks couldn't figure out what the problem was with blogging then, and he likes twitter now.
As a fellow geek friend of mine posts, he just doesn't get the attraction either. But at least his commentary is a little better than snarky columnists who's job is trying to attract attention to themselves and their papers.
It's the age-old what you grew up with (technology wise) / personal choice in tools argument. Until we have the One True Social Network tier-together tool To Rule Them All, we'll always have people making controversy about those other social network tools.
Took me a long time to warm up to it, but even in my "Dumb kids, who cares what you had for lunch!" days, I didn't go writing 600-word columns about it. So I guess I'm not ready for a columnist slot in the Herald lifestyle section.

No shame in not liking Twitter
