West Roxbury to cause mozzarella shortage in rest of state?

Are West Roxbury residents pizza fiends? Papa John's thinks so - the chain wants to build an outlet in the Roche Bros. plaza, which would join all the other pizza places along Centre and Spring streets (to wit: Espresso, Christos, DeNo's, the Real Deal, Tony's and West Napoli). David Ertischek wonders: How much pizza can one neighborhood eat?

Don't forget the Bertucci's up on VFW Parkways. Seriously, though, DeNo's is all you need.

Don't forget Pomodoro at Grove and Washington (or for that matter, Cristelle's on Washington or even, dare I say it, the Domino's at Washington and the West Roxbury Parkway).

But yeah, DeNo's is your complete pizza resource.

Papa John's pizza is nasty. I'll admit to eating it in a pinch when living elsewhere (you can't get decent pizza in Memphis) but now that I'm back in New England, I won't touch the stuff.

Their cheese never has the consistency of fully-melted mozzarella, regardless of how hot it may be. It always seems like the kind you find on a regular pizza when it has cooled to a lukewarm temperature.

It's mediocre, I'll grant you, but "nasty" should be reserved for Domino's and Little Caesar.

I put Papa Johns on par with Dominio's. I'd rather go into Roche's and get a frozen Lean Cuisine that pick up a Papa Johns.

Deno's is good but Tony's gets my vote for best. Their sauce is so good. Love when I get a chance to go in enjoy the old school wait staff.

I don't understand how these terrible chains are able to gain any sort of foothold in this area. There are so many good pizza places around. Not to mention Papa Ginos, which are everywhere and make a decent pizza.
