Leave Boston's newest coffeehouse to the tourists who don't care they're in a New York-themed joint in Boston, reviewer says

Charlie Dippolito checks out the new Central Perk on Newbury Street and suggests you leave it to the tourists who want to sit on a replica couch and buy "Friends" tchotchkes as the "Friends" song plays over and over and over and eat sandwiches that are just like what you could get at Panera, only more expensive and with "Friends"-based names.

I Never Wish Failure On A Business...
But there are always exceptions like gun shops, country music radio stations, New England For Trump stores, and crap like this.
It would be cool if someone opened a Living Single place across the street. Only because the producers of Friends ripped the premise of the show right from under them. Just like they did with Park Street Under. Does the opening of this locally produced show, which was also ripped off, give a vibe kind of like a show which spawned a tourist trap on Beacon Street?

So like the "Cheers" Bar & Pub
Except with a New York slant. I wonder haw long this tourist trap will last?
I was in Florida back when "Park Street Under" came out. Did it last more than one season? I've never seen it.
Don't Know If More Than One Season - Probably Not
Was young. Did not have control of the tv all the time back then.
Its performativeness matches
Its performativeness matches the city government.
In utter pointlessness, though
you still have a commanding lead
...in that it does what it promises to do?
I'm not sure you thought through your critique here.
There are some tourist traps
There are some tourist traps around this town that I only go to if a friend visiting from out of town insists, e.g. the food court downtown named for a slave trader.
Then there are other tourist traps that, if my friends wanted to go there, I'd send them there on my own, and start looking for smarter friends.
This is in the latter category.
I can honestly say that I
I can honestly say that I have watched Jennifer Aniston’s father, the late John Aniston, on Days of our Lives way more times than I’ve ever watched Friends. I’m not even sure if I’ve actually managed to get through one episode. When it was on I was scraping and scrounging to keep myself in school and supporting myself, so the whole idea of six people living like this in Manhattan was a little bit ridiculous to me.
I always assumed they thought
I always assumed they thought it was gauche to talk out loud about their trust funds.
I can honestly say that I
I can honestly say that I have only watched Days of Our Lives when Joey portrayed Dr Drake Ramoray on it in multiple episodes of Friends.
DOOL
lol
Another way they blew it
Phoebe's last name is Buffay.
The worst part
This place sounds pretty bad on multiple fronts, but the thing that's sticking with me the most is the fact that they were playing the theme song on repeat. That has to be just an opening day/week thing, right? That can't be the plan going forward, can it? I'm a little surprised the entire staff didn't walk out after a couple of hours of that.
It's like...
...the "It's a small world" ride at Disney, only with beer.
