The Boston Fire Department reports a driver plowed into Threading for Beauty and Sebastian's Barber Shop on Corinth Street, just around the corner from Belgrade Avenue in Roslindale, this morning, destroying the businesses and taking out a good part of the building. Read more.

Of course, I had to rush home to dish up this news: Roslindale Square is getting another ice-cream place. Jimmies, opening soon on Corinth Street, next to Imperial Kitchen, will also serve food on buns.
Currently, Roslindale residents who need ice cream have to travel down to Belgrade for Select Cafe, the former Emack and Bolios. The cafe, which is more of a coffeehouse that serves ice cream, is currently redecorating a bit - and no longer requires people to ask for a key at the counter for the restroom.
With Jax on the way out, Lane, on the Real Whirled, laments the state of Roslindale Square:
... Add that to the list of empty storefronts in our little village. It's almost a joke with people now. Some neighbors say things like; 'What would the village look like with actual stores in those empty spaces? Oh well, we will never know. Will we?'...
