Their ingenious burning plot foiled, the assholes on somebody's porch on Tyndale Street at 2 a.m. on Thursday instead ripped the flag down, WCVB reports, adding somebody tried to pull the flag down the day before and when that failed, kicked the house.

Boston Police and Animal Control responded to American Legion Highway near the Walgreens and Flaming Grill buffet around 7:20 this morning on reports of a bull that had been wandering around there until some people in a UHaul chased it up into the woods of Crane Ledge next door. Read more.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court today dismissed a man's gun convictions related to the way he killed a co-worker at a Roslindale garage in 2019 because prosecutors failed to prove he didn't have a gun license, but upheld his conviction for manslaughter, which means he will remain behind bars. Firefighters working on rescuing solar-panel installer in Roslindale

Boston firefighters and EMTs responded to Delore Circle at Seymour Street in Roslindale after a worker up on the roof installing solar panels suffered a "heat emergency" and passed out in the heat around 10 a.m. Firefighters were able to take him down to the ground in via the bucket at the end of the ladder; he was then taken to a local hospital for care.

Update: LoRusso Corp. confirms it conducted a blast shortly after 1 p.m. at its quarry at Grove and Centre Street in West Roxbury.

Reports are coming in from West Roxbury, Hyde Park and right here in the UHub Newsroom (OK, our dining room table) of some weird shaking going on shortly after 1 p.m. Read more.

Robert Street Dog

Alert dog yesterday afternoon.

For the longest time, the residents of a house on Robert Street in Roslindale had been dressing up the dog statue on the wall in front of their house to match the times: Sox gear in the summer, Bruins gear in the winter and the like (except around Christmas when he donned some Santa gear, and during the pandemic, when he celebrated nurses) . Then, a few weeks ago, some assholes smashed the dog to bits. He returned this week, alert as ever, awaiting his next outfit.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday issued a warning to Napper Tandy's, 4187-4195 Washington St. in Roslindale, for a Dec. 5 incident in which two guys playing pool went into a men's room that was supposed to be closed to snort some coke, then came out and collapsed to the floor - one as EMTs and firefighters were already on hand to help the other - because their powder turned out to be laced with fentanyl.
