Masshole F1: Herb Chambers

So, the Boston Globe videotaped Herb Chambers in his McLaren F1 breaking the speed limit, (probably) illegally using his dealership plates, and talking on the cell phone while driving.

I wonder what the State Police would think of Mr. Chambers tearassing around on the state's highways in his "$4M" sportscar, on dealer plates? (something tells me the F1 isn't for sale.) I wonder what his insurance company thinks of him taking along passengers on a joyride?

And lastly: if the car isn't registered...that means he's getting out of excise tax on more than half a million dollars worth of car.

Didn't the MBTA spend several years fixing the switches on the northern end of the Orange Line?

Switching problems at Wellington mean inbound delays on the Orange Line this morning. As Matt Kurkowski tweeted:

Clearly it is time to replace the switch if these "switching problems" ALWAYS happen at Wellington! Love a 1/4 MPH commute.

So a snail, a turtle and a Red Line train walk into a bar ...

Signal problems at Park Street? Rush-hour commuters got stuck on the Longfellow tonight and now people trying to get anywhere fast on the Red Line might be better off just walking, apparently. Man, even the Mattapan "High-Speed" Line had problems today thanks to a disabled trolley.

He pines for the Central Artery

Stephen Heuser acknowledges the Central Artery had to come down, but, darnit, he misses the muscular exurberance of infrastructure that wasn't afraid to admit it was infrastructure. Yes, really.
